4 Bedroom Design Mistakes You’ll Want to Avoid

A space that’s made for rest and relaxation is the bedroom. That’s why this specific room should always be comfortable and pleasing to the eye. With excellent bedroom design, this is easy enough to do, but you’ll need to avoid some common mistakes.

1. Too impersonal: Does your bedroom look like something out of a catalogue? Granted, bedrooms in magazines win at aesthetics, but they may feel cold and uninviting when you view them with your own eyes. Make your space warmer and more comfortable by swapping old, heavy-looking antiques with colorful cushions or plush couches, and adding personal details, such as family photos and your favorite prints.

2. Overlooking acoustics: You should be able to sleep just as soon as your head hits the pillow, but too much noise can hamper this. Take into account the acoustics in your bedroom. You should, for example, avoid positioning your bed next to the wall connecting your space with the entertainment room.

3. Bad lighting: Your bedroom needs a blend of different light sources. This will depend on how you use your space. For instance, if you like reading in bed, having a bedside lamp with adjustable dimmer or wall sconce is a good choice.

4. Too much furniture: Good movement flow makes for a better, more comfortable bedroom. That’s why you should only choose furniture that increases the functionality of the space like additional storage.
