A Homeowner’s Guide to Different Types of Renovations

If you’re in the market for home renovations, then you need to decide first on what kind of project should be done in your home. Below are some of the common types of renovations from which you can choose.

Exteriors

A lot of home renovation projects start with the home’s exteriors. Simply having a new front door or replacing your windows can make an impact on the overall look and feel of your home. Depending on what kind of renovation project you’re planning, you can go for the more extensive, such as building a back porch, adding stone siding or even landscaping your property.

Kitchen

The kitchen is one place in any home that gets a lot of human and pet traffic. A kitchen remodeling project can be as simple as installing new cabinets with contemporary colors and textures, which make the whole kitchen look fresh and updated. Bigger renovation ideas are nearly limitless, such as replacing your kitchen’s tiles with hardwood flooring or installing new lighting fixtures that complement the colors and textures of the room. You can even have a few walls knocked down if you want to expand your kitchen space.

Basement and Attic

A basement or attic remodeling project can actually be a very worthwhile investment. That drafty space in your basement can be renovated into a fun entertainment room for your family members and friends, complete with a bar and a gaming area. Meanwhile, your attic can become a personal space for meditation or relaxation, with soft carpeting and matching wall decorations.

Bathroom

Bathroom renovations can start with replacing your cabinets, faucets and mirrors. You can even add a shower glass door if the space is big enough. For bigger bathrooms, you can replace the tiles with more contemporary designs or install a new bathtub.
