How to Find the Right Home Addition Contractor

It’s also worth checking the reviews to learn how satisfied their previous customers were with the prospective contractors.

Ask for Proof of Licenses and Certifications

Depending on where you live, professional new addition contractors must have the necessary licenses, business permits and certifications to legally operate in the state. Avoid dealing with shady contractors especially if they aren’t in the area. If they’re unlicensed, there’s no guarantee that they’ll do a good job with your home addition project. Also, check if they carry adequate insurance. This will protect you from any liability that may arise while the project is underway.

Compare Different Estimates

When approaching different prospects for your home addition project, you’ll need to get their estimates and compare them to each other. While the lowest price isn’t always the best option, that doesn’t mean you get the best quality workmanship and material with the most expensive estimate. Make sure to consider an estimate that is within your budget as well as written and dated to know how long they’re valid.
