Consumer taste is often evolving, catering to energy efficient designs and increased functionality. Let’s talk about the projected kitchen remodeling trends for 2016, so you can incorporate them in your design!

Kitchen Style

The kitchen design style that best suits you will depend on your needs, but the following are popular style trends:

  • Transitional: This design is a combination of traditional and contemporary elements.
  • Shaker: A shaker kitchen style is both minimalist and classy, featuring simple lines and proportioned doors with a frame and inset panel.
  • Contemporary: This design did not fare as well in popularity in 2015 when up against transitional style, but the ever-changing contemporary fit is said to be on the rise in 2016.

Upscale Kitchen

With each New Year, comes resolutions to sustain a healthier lifestyle. So, it should come as no surprise that gourmet kitchens featuring energy efficient amenities that aid in cooking healthy food are a hot trend (one that is here to stay). Did Someone Say Island?

We know, you’re thinking about palm trees. But what if you had an island in your kitchen?! As the 2016 design forecast predicts, traditional kitchen tables will decrease in popularity and alternative islands with tall seating options will take the cake.

Color of The Year

Every year, Pantone Color Institute announces a “Color of the Year” that they predict will see a surge in popular design. For the first time ever, they announced two colors for 2016 – rose quartz and serenity. While powder shades of blue like “serenity” are becoming increasingly popular in current kitchen designs – their popularity is exceeded by bright white and gray paint. Remember, the color of your kitchen should make your appliances and upscale features ‘pop’!
